Teachers
Debbie Kurilla
— RYT
certified. Debbie received her certification in the
Kripalu style of yoga in 1999 and more recently Debbie
was granted a teaching status of an "
Anusara inspired yoga teacher"
by
John Friend. She has been teaching at her studio, Body of
Light, since January 2000. Debbie's classes are fun, reflective,
and illuminate the beauty, power and grace of yoga. She offers the student a
blend of metaphor and contemplation as well as specific alignment
instruction for optimal practice.
She is
grateful to all her teachers, especially her students. John Friend for
his commitment to the heart of the practice
and his elegant Universal Principles of Alignment that provide the gateway to
understanding any pose and translating those principles effectively to
any student, young or old, beginner or advanced. Erich Schiffman taught her the
importance of listening within and allowing for self expression and
creativity in practice. Rodney Yee has been a
wonderful example of devoted enthusiasm for yoga and teaching.
Her
practice in meditation has had the most profound
experience on her life and teaching style. Meditation opened a compassionate doorway
inwards to what it means to be human. Again she is blessed with
the time she has been able to spend with her teachers, Gurumayi Chidvalasananda and the beloved Ammachi. In September 2003 she
received training in the IAM meditation technique in Kerala, India. She
continues to go on retreat 4 times a year.
Debbie encourages her
students not only to become strong, flexible and balanced in their yoga
practice but to listen quietly what the body is revealing. |

Om Shanti. |

Sandy
Gola - RYT certified. Sandy received her teaching certification with Raji Thron of Yoga
Synthesis in 2006. Sandy likes the vigor, challenge and meditative
aspects of a vinyasa style class and is able to translate, with
confidence and ease, this beautiful yoga style (a sequencing of poses
between movement and breath) to her students. Because Sandy has years of experience as an
accomplished fitness instructor, she has the ability to give lots of
hands on personal instruction to her students
and her classes are always customized to the best of the student’s
abilities. She adds uplifting music, great verbal cues and the
metaphysical to each class. Her classes become a sacred journey.
A
student of many diverse spiritual traditions, Sandy has a natural
interest in the subtle body, particularly the emotional and mental
bodies and their effects on the physical realm. She is drawn to the
ancient studies of yoga and Native American energy work. In the fall of
2006 Sandy visited India combining both traditions. Grateful to all of
her teachers, past and present, she lives happily in Bloomfield, New
Jersey |

Jennifer
Takahashi has been a
student of yoga since the early 90's. She received her teaching
certification from Body of Light in 2004.
Jennifer enjoys the inner experience that yoga offers
in the tradition of Kripalu Yoga. She is able to translate this
experience to her students. Her classes are perfect for beginners, for
people who think they can’t do yoga and for anyone who wants to
experience yoga’s gentle edges. All students respond to Jen’s
encouragement, support and humor and the deep relaxation they experience
in each class. The student will feel empowered to move in a way that
feels good, with no self judgment of right or wrong and with the understanding that they
hold the ability to bring this sense of peace into their daily life.
Jen brings a fun, creative and reflective
approach to the practice of yoga as a student and teacher, guiding her
students to discover their inner strength, balance and edge.
Jen is an accomplished artist and she and her family are long time
residents of South Orange, NJ.

Hala's teaching offers a combination
of solid understanding of foundation with the openness and spirit to be
creative. She obtained her teacher training through Yoga Works where
Iyengar meets Ashtanga but she also loves brining many different
traditions to the mat too. Hala is thankful to have come across many
wonderful teachers and students from different schools over the years
where each has nurtured her love for yoga. Her classes can be fluid,
uplifting, and playful |

Although Hatha Yoga has many names and interpretations,
the one underlying
quality that
unifies all practices and all students
is the journey itself --
an
inherent inner- and inter-connectedness with one’s Self,
with
one’s life and that mysterious and
eternal essence known as spirit. |
